Ok probably better known as an antimacasser (sp?).
This was knitted with a cotton/polyamide blend in a simple stitch of knit two rows and purl one. To give a neater edge I have slipped the first stitch of every row purl wise and always knitted the last - regardless of which row I was on.
The result is a rib stich panal with the ribs running across the width of the piece rather than down it.
With fewer stitches on my needles I could make this into a scarf but I would probably use a heavier yarn for it.
For this project I have used 4mm bamboo needles for this as I found my metal ones were a bit too slipy with this yarn. The bamboo gave a bit more grip to it. They also have a better point to get into the stitches. The yarn is a dk weight yarn and being a cotton based one it is rather slippy so I did gave to tension it a bit differently but once I got the hang of this but was a nice yarn to work with. Until I came to casting off that is then it was a struggle to stop it splitting. I did manage to complete the cast off but then had to do some repair work with a crochet hook. Now I do partly blame user error in this but after that ordeal I may not use this yarn again for knitting but might try a bit if crochet with it.
As you can see I did make a row count error early on but it is hand made so perfection won't exist.
The needles I used: Bamboo needles
The Yarn: Paintbox dk
The colour I am using is called 'woo woo' but others are available.
