This was the first project I knitted on my set of circular needles, which I will review on here later and most of it was knitted at work during my morning break and lunch. As a teacher I have used this time to ensure I take a break.
A corner to corner blanket simply means that you start with a few stitches as one corner of the blanket then knit adding stiches to each row until halfway then reduce it back down to form the final corner.
I started by casting on 3 stitches using the long tail method which is my main go to cast on as it is easy to do.
To begin with each row starts with a kfb stitch then knit to the end of the row so in a way this is good 'TV knitting' as except for the first stitch it is very straight forward. This is done until you have used half of the yarn then you switch to knit one k2tog and then knit to the end then when there are only 3 stitches left k1 k2tog then cast off one and fasten off, weave in ends and the blanket is done.
I knitted this with one 150g cake of Sirdar snuggly pattercake yarn this measures aprox 500 m. This is a DK thickness yarn which is 70% acrylic and 30% nylon and my circular needles set using 4mm needles and the 80cm cable.
The yarn was nice to work with and it was easy to maintain tension. My minor complaint was that sometimes the thickness of the yarn did change but this has not spoilt the overall look of the finished item.
To make sure you get the patten to fit make sure you weigh the yarn cake before you start this way you will know when you are half way through and can switch from the increase rows to reduction rows. The colour I used was shade 756 (chocco love).
